What Are Symptoms of a Concussion?
Are you a Wisconsin resident who suffered from a head injury? If so, it is important to know the symptoms of a concussion. Some symptoms can have an early onset. Others may take days to appear.
In some cases, a concussion is mild. In others, it is severe and may need medical attention. It is important to know if you fall into the latter category.
Types of Symptoms You May See in a Concussion
Mayo Clinic lists out the symptoms you may experience if you have a concussion. This includes physical and non-physical symptoms. You may have more familiarity with physical symptoms. These get more focus. This may include issues like headaches, nausea and vomiting. You may also suffer from a temporary loss of consciousness. You may have blurred or “starry” vision. You may experience tinnitus, which is a ringing in the ears. Drowsiness and fatigue is also possible.
For non-physical symptoms, you may feel more agitated and irritable. You could find yourself forgetting short-term things. You may end up asking the same question repeatedly. You may suffer from amnesia surrounding the event of the injury. Your senses may end up disordered, especially smell and taste. You could experience light and noise sensitivity. You may also have trouble concentrating. Many concussive victims feel as though they are looking at things through a fog.
Dealing With Symptom Onset and Severity
As mentioned, symptoms have different times of onset. Some may appear shortly after the injury. Others can appear within 24 hours or longer. Concussions differ in intensity as well. Some need more immediate medical attention than others. But you must see a doctor to find out where you stand.
